Consistency Keeps Dorr in the Hunt for the Super Stock Championship
Rockford, IL (August 17, 2010) - Mitch Dorr continues to be the most consistent driver in the Super Stock Truck division on the 2010 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL World Tour. The third year driver has only finished outside of the top-5 once in the first ten rounds of racing. A statistic he kept intact as the team competed at Bark River International Off-Road Raceway for the second time this year.

The all natural terrain layout of the 1.7 mile track in Bark River is one of Mitch's favorites. In fact, team's first Super Stock came at the track in his rookie year. "The technical aspect of Bark River fits my driving style," remarked Mitch Dorr. "The track really doesn't have a true straightaway. It's a series of fairly high speed curves where getting into a rhythm to a key to quickly getting around the track."

Saturday - Round 9
The start of the Super Stock race saw the #817 Fabricated Steel ATD Goodyear Ford F-150 get caught up in a massive pileup as the field went through the "horseshoe" turn for the first time. The mayhem allowed much of the field to get in front of the red Ford F-150. Other than some bent up front fenders, the Fabricated Steel Ford charged back into competition looking to get back on the podium. As the race headed for the mandatory yellow, Mitch found the brake pedal going to the floor. The brakes were not working. When the race went back to green flag racing, Mitch relied on his ATD transmission to slow down the truck in the corners. This isn't the best way to slow down a 4,200 pound race truck, but it can do the job for a limited amount of time. Fortunately for Mitch, the ATD trans handled all the abuse as the #817 Ford finished battered, but on the podium in second place.

Overnight the team went through the truck replaced the transmission for good measure, and repaired the brake system.

Sunday - Round 10

The start of Sunday's race was almost a carbon copy of the day before. Everybody seemed to get waded up in the first turn, and Mitch Dorr seemed to get the worst of it. Once the dust settled and Mitch was able to back the truck up to get back in the race, once again, most of the field was well out on front. Again Mitch went to work passing several competitors in just a few laps. Then the brakes failed once again. This time the #817 Fabricated Steel ATD Goodyear Ford F-150 reached the fifth position when the checkered flag came out.

The weekend was a true "Battle of the Titans" in the off-road world. The never give up attitude of Mitch Dorr has put the team solidly in third place in the chase for the TORC Super Stock Championship. Only sixteen points separate the top three drivers in the division; Scott Beauchamp - 203, Eric Ruppel - 195, and Mitch Dorr - 187.

The final race on the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL schedule is September 4-5 in Crandon, WI.

On a special note, all the Super Stock drivers got together to bring awareness to Prader-Willi Syndrome. Luke Beauchamp, son of Super Stock driver Scott Beauchamp, has been diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome. All the drivers in the class raced with a white hood during the weekend to the hopes that the public becomes more aware of this condition and additional research funds can be obtained to eventually find a cure that inflicts approximately 1:15,000.
